3D Scanning For Engineering
What do you do when people KEEP ASKING for a capability that you donβt have? π§
You add it!
Happy to announce we are now up-and-running with in-house 3D scanning capabilities! π
For those interested (nerds like me π€), this is basically how a 3D scanner works:
A laser 3D scanner can take point cloud data from the surface of any part, and bring it into CAD for measurement and reverse engineering.
The 3D scanner shoots the lasers. (LASERS ARE AWESOME! π)
The cameras on the scanner see the lasers.
Based off of where it sees the lasers, it knows where to put the points.
The points can be turned into a 3D mesh.
And the 3D mesh can be precisely measured and approximated in CAD.
The CAD model can be manufactured, or used to design a complementary part.
That, in a nutshell, is how a laser 3D scanner works!
