Meet one of my new favorite materials, with surprising STRENGTH & TOUGHNESS.

This week, one of my customers asked me to source a few parts for one of their clients (a small-batch run of 4 mounting jigs, 12pc. total) out of a material that was “tougher than what they already have”.

Since this was all the information I was given, with a tight deadline 😬, I did a little research and overnighted a tough, well-reviewed filament that was new to me.

Enter Fiberon PA6-GF25. (Trumpet fanfare 🎺 )

A nylon composite reinforced with glass fibers, this filament exceeded my expectations with its strength and durability. This stuff is built to last.

Another well-known nylon composite is carbon fiber, but instead of being reinforced with carbon fabric, PA6-GF25 is reinforced with finely chopped glass fibers. The result is an extremely strong and tough material. Will definitely be using again. The average FDM machine doesn’t run hot enough for this stuff, but my Bambu Labs H2S handled it like a champ.
